dining room, carry-out and trays Musical At Oakland Into the Woods, a brew of music and fairy tale, will come to Oakland University for 11 performances. Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical journey into the woods inter- mingles the characters from several of Grimm's fairy tales. Their paths criss-cross as each ventures out to pursue his heart's most secret wish. Oakland's company consists of 25 players accompanied by a 13-piece orchestra. John Bell, a member of the theatre faculty at the University of Michigan-Flint, is musical director. He served as an assistant to Sondheim as the musical was developed in San Diego. Scenery by Susan Barrett of the Oakland theatre faculty features an arena setting of trees and branches designed to surround the audience in the woodsy atmosphere and include them in the journey. Director Michael Gillespie describes Into the Woods as a musical tale suitable for children and adults. Familiar stories are wittily presented in the first act, but the characters soon find that the story does not end there. The hard realities of life require them to make yet another trip into the woods. Performances will be 8 p.m. March 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30 and April 5-6 and at 2 p.m. March 17, 24 and April 7. No performance will be held on Easter (March 31). For ticket information, call the Center for the Arts box of- fice, 370-3013.
