FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 1991

Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.

Art Institute
Gallery Times

Affected by a reduction in
operating funds, the Detroit
Institute of Arts will reduce
its service.
The musuem's 100-plus
galleries will be divided in
two areas: one area to be open
only mornings, the other, on-
ly afternoons. Under this
plan, it remains possible for
visitors to see the entire
museum in one day.
Galleries open 9:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. are: Islamic, Asian,
Native American, African,
Oceanic and New World
Cultures, Precolumbian,
Photography, 20th Century,
Ancient Near Eastern, Egyp-
tian and American Art.
Galleries open 1:30 p.m. to
5:30 p.m. are: Greek and
Roman, Medieval, French,
Italian, Flemish, Dutch, Ger-
man, Spanish, British and
Graphic Arts.
Woodward and Farnsworth
doors of the DIA will be open
all day, as will special exhibi-
tions, the Michigan Artists
gallery, Great Hall, Rivera
Court and the recently-in-
stalled 19th-century Euro-
pean galleries at the Farns-
worth entrance. The DIA
ticket office, Museum Shop,
Kresge Court Cafe and La
Palette Restaurant will main-
tain regular museum hours.

Opera Theatre
Mozart Work

The
University
of
Michigan's Opera Theatre
will perform Mozart's Don
Giovanni, based on the Don
Juan myth, March 27-30 at
the Lydia Mendelssohn
Theatre in Ann Arbor.
Don Giovanni tells the tale
of a reckless scoundrel who
seduces women across roman-
tic 18 century Spain in total
disregard for civil or divine
authority. In this opera,
Mozart blends stark tragedy
with high comedy. Don
Giovanni will be sung in
Italian using English
supertitles.
