Beth El Brotherhood
To Hear Dr. Powell

Dr. Don R. Powell, executive
director of the American In-
stitute for Preventative
Medicine, will be the featured
speaker at the Temple Beth
El Brotherhood breakfast
9:30 a.m. March 17.
His presentation to the
Brotherhood, "An Apple A
Day Isn't Enough," will be
reflective of methods utilized
by his institute in the
development of smoking
cessation, weight control,
stress management, fitness
and other programs in use by
more than 500 hospitals and
1,000 corporations nation-
wide.
The breakfast and program
are open to the public. There
is no charge.

Adat Shalom Plans
Three Events In March

Adat Shalom Synagogue
and its nursery school will co-
sponsor a Mishpachah Pass-
over crafts workshop for pre-
school youngsters and their
families 10 a.m. March 17.

Participants will make
"touch and feel" Haggadot,
Pesach puppets and seder
pillows. There is a charge.
The event is open to the
community. Reservations are
required. Call the synagogue,
851-5105, by March 13 for
reservations.

Dr. Don Powell

Adat Shalom will hold a
caregivers' support group ses-
sion for spouses, children and
others caring for someone
with Alzheimer's and related

diseases of aging. The pro-
gram will take place 7:30 p.m.
March 21 at Adat Shalom. It
is open to the community at
no charge.
Facilitators will be Arlene
Lubin, a geriatric social
worker, and Andrea Sanfield,
a physical therapist. The
evening is sponsored by the
Adat Shalom JEFF
committee.
Chug Ivrit (Hebrew Circle),
a monthly Hebrew conversa-
tional club, will begin March
17, at Adat Shalom. An
organizational meeting will
be held 10 a.m. that day.
The club, which is open to
the community, is designed
for those who want to polish
up their Hebrew speaking
skills in an informal
atmosphere.

Three young women will
share the experiences that
shaped their Jewish commit-
ment at the annual Temple
Beth El Sisterhood Shabbat,
8 p.m. March 15.

Evie Rogers will speak of
her participation in the 1990
March of the Living in which
3,000 teen-agers traveled to
Poland and Israel.

Marcie Gerenraich, whose
stay at Kibbutz Maayan Tsvi
in Hof Hacarmel was shorten-

ed by the Gulf war, and Dena
Kuhn, who spent six months
in Haifa at the Leo Baeck
High School, will address how
their Israeli experiences
altered their views and
deepened their alliance to
Judaism.
The sisterhood will conduct
the service. It will be preced-
ed by a 6 p.m. dinner open to
temple members and guests.
There is a charge. For reser-
