Is Luncheon Topic

The B'nai B'rith Michigan
Regional Council, Midrasha-
College of Jewish Studies,
and the Michigan Board of
Rabbis are presenting their
second lecture in a lunch and
learn series on Christianity
and its relationship to
Judaism.
On Mar. 21, Rabbi Joseph
Gutmann, professor of art
history at Wayne State
University and adjunct
curator at the Detroit In-
stitute of Arts, will speak on
"The Christian Influence on
Jewish Customs." A kosher
lunch will be served at noon
and the lecture will begin at
12:30 p.m. at United Hebrew
Schools. There is a charge.
On April 18, Reverend
James Lyons, director of the
Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish and Christian
Studies, will speak on the
"Real Christian Stance on
Israel." -Rabbi M. Robert
Syme of Temple Israel will
moderate.
The final lecture of the
series will be held on May 16
with Rabbi Norman Roman of
Temple Kol Ami speaking on
"What Jews Should Know
About the Christian Bible."

Israel Study
Program Offered

Machon Labrah, the Jewish
Learning Network of
Michigan, is opening the
1991 Israel U.S.A. Connection
Scholarship program.
The program includes a
four to eight week learning
tour of Israel which will in-
clude guided tours, oppor-
tunities to spend weekends
with Israeli families, an
ulpan and lectures in Jewish
history, philosophy and law.
Two tours are planned. The
first will leave on May 26,
with the second leaving June
26.
Applicants must be bet-
ween the ages of 18-28 with
good references.
