Special Camp
At Silverman

Silverman Village at Camp
Maas near Ortonville, Mich.,
is accepting applications for
campers age 6-12 with mild to
moderate behavior problems.
The campers share, to some
degree, one or more of the
following characteristics: dif-
ficulty in following adult in-
structions or expectations,
difficulty in accepting respon-
sibility for their behavior, dif-
ficulty in getting along with
peers and functioning in a
group, lack of self-confidence,
or fear of new situations.
Many of these campers are in
special education classes in
school.
Silverman Village accepts
35 boys and girls to each of its
two sessions. The staff is
drawn from students in
special education or related
fields.
Activities are geared to a
camper's ability to be suc-
cessful. These include
horseback riding, swimming,
boating, arts and crafts,
nature appreciation, sports,
and camping trips.
A learning center offers
computers, educational
videos, cooking activities, and
newspaper writing to en-
courage the use of language,
reading, math and problem-
solving skills.
The food service is kosher.
The first session, intended
for boys and girls age 6-10,
will be June 29-July 7 (17
days). The second session, for
boys and girls age 11-12, will
be July 18-Aug. 11 (25 days).
Dr. Barbara Vedder, a
special consultant with
Wayne County Intermediate
School District is the piogram
director.
Financial assistance is

the United Hebrew Schools,
co-sponsored by the Midrasha
College for Jewish Studies,
will present "A Journey
Through the Seder (with em-
phasis on Midrash and Inter-
pretations)" noon Mar. 20 at
the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion, 21550 W. 12 Mile Rd.,
Southfield.
The speaker will be Rabbi
Bruce Aft, director of the
Midrasha College for Jewish
Studies and principal of the
Community Jewish High
