"My food is so authentic,
you'll say

From the sayings of Chairman Wong — Pearl City

PROBABLY ONE of the

quaintest places for folks to
stay is in Southfield . . . It
looks like a series of town
houses, but is actually a cross
between an apartment com-
plex and hotel . . . The
Residence Inn Marriot on 11
Mile, east of Evergreen, has
the accomodations of a fur-
nished apartment and ser-
vices ranging from 24-hour
front desk to daily maid
cleaner-uppers . . . Each suite
has its own private entrance,
with guests discovering wood-
burning fireplaces in living
rooms, furnished kitchens,
etc. . . . Quite different.
YOU PROBABLY know
plenty of losers . . . like the
guy who wrecks his auto-
mobile while driving home
from the bank after making
his final car payment . . . or
someone who gets a paper cut
from a get-well card.
Rodney Dangerfield made a
fortune being a loser . . . "I
had a terrible childhood," he
says. "My parents didn't want
me around. Other parents
punished their kids for sneak-
ing out of the house. Mine
punished me for staying
home" . . . Rodney says the
first time he went to the
beach, his dad gave the
lifeguard $5 to keep an eye off
him.
How about the gal who was
told by her mother, "You
should be ashamed of yourself
— all your girlfriends are
divorced already and you're
not even married" . . . Then
there was the Japanese call
girl who went broke because
no one had a yen for her .. .
And what about the guy
whose twin sister forgets his
birthday?

From won-ton soup to Szechuan chicken, my
restaurants serve only the freshest, the most
authentic Chinese food.

So for the true taste of China — come to

Ford Museum
New Exhibit

Visitors to Henry Ford
Museum will find out what
makes Mazda's rotary engine
"tick" in a new exhibit.
The 13-B Twin Rotor Turbo-
Charged Mazda rotary engine
(c. 1985) is similar to the
engine used in today's Mazda
RX-7 sports car and repre-
sents a revolution in
automotive technology.
The displayed engine has
been separated into three
segments to expose its inter-
nal parts. Visitors can
discover how the engine
works by actually viewing the
"works."
The rotary engine was
donated to the museum by
Mazda (North America), Inc.
and will be displayed through
early May in the museum
plaza.

ness of Stuart's d.j. efficiency
and personable ways . . . His
musical library includes more
than 200 discs, 50 tapes and
300 records.
Stuart and John have
ways of pleasantry with peo-
ple . . . They make a good
combination.
JULIE ROTT has her own
behavior modification pro-
gram for youngsters . . . If
Joshua, 3-year-old son of hers
and Arthur, is a good boy he
gets a quarter at the end of
the day . . . "We put all the
quarters in a bucket labeled
`Marvin's' and at the end of
one or two weeks, that's what
we get to spend at Marvin's
Museum." (Marvin's Mar-
velous Mechanical Museum)
. . . The place with entertain-
ing antique, video games and
almost every machine im-
aginable is back of F & M, off
Orchard Lake Road and 14
Mile where Tally Hall used to
be located.
KID'S DEPT. . . . The
visiting uncle said, "If you're
a good boy, I'll give you a
shiny new quarter" . . .
"Thanks, but don't you have
a dirty old dollar?"
FISH DISTRIBUTED by
Oscar Bank at his The Bank
Co. in Oak Park is called Nile
Perch and processed under
kosher supervision with in-
spection by the chief rab-
binate of Israel . . . Nile perch
flesh, like any other
freshwater bass, is heavy,
white and flaky with a non-
fish taste . . . It's also high in
Omega 3s and can be
prepared as other white-
fleshed fish, baked, steamed,
fried, poached or broiled .. .
First pilot project outside
Africa was Israeli marketing
. . . Today, more than 1.5
million pounds a month are
shipped to Israel and the rest
of the Nile Perch exports sent
to Spain, Belgium and
France.
NAME IS NOW Club
Dimitri . . . changeover from
Dimitri's of Southfield . . .
Gala grand opening of the
new jazz spot at Southfield
and 10 Mile was with wall-to-
wall people listening to the
vocals of recording artist
Millie Scott and her rhythmic
five-piece band . . . Millie and
the group will be there every
Friday and Saturday evening
. . . Rest of the week, Sundays
through Thursdays has danc-
ing to the music of a d.j.
Colorful balloons welcomed
Club Dimitri guests as
melodies filled the room that
has been remodeled to look
more like a supper club with
its intimacy a perfect setting.
Club Dimitri is still owned
by Dimitri Syros and man-
aged evenings by Bill "Bud"
Buckner and Mike Lee.
