JET Presents Dramatic Readings The Jewish Ensemble Theatre will present Eight Days in March, its annual festival of staged dramatic readings. The festival is designed to feature new plays that deal with Jewish culture or the Jewish experience. Four plays will be presented by profes- sional actors and directors. The readings are done only after a limited number of rehearsals, without a formal set and with the actors using scripts. The staged readings also help the playwright and director to understand, criti- que and develop the works. Each performance will be followed by an open discus- sion by members of the au- dience, actors, the director, and, in most cases, the author. Each of the plays will be presented twice. On Wednes- day evenings, the readings will be at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish Community Center. On Thursday even- ings, they will be at the Maple-Drake Jewish Com- munity Center. All perfor- mances are at 8 p.m. The schedule of plays is: Mar. 6-7 — Enough Already by Detroiter Neil Master, a comedy about a stubborn woman, her husband, her son and his girlfriend. Mar. 13-14 — The Emigra- tion of Adam Kurtzik by Theodore Herstand, a biting satire in which a diligent, conscientious Jewish white- collar worker is confronted by the brown-collar Nazi war machine. Mar. 20-21 — Just in Time by Jules Abrams and Robert Clymire, a story about people and relationships, in which a 63-year-old man finds himself a reluctant "swinging single." Mar. 27-28 — Pearl by Todd Graff, which follows a lower- middle-class Jewish woman through five decades, from her own fears as a young woman and her frustrations with her daughter to senior citizenship. Tickets are not required, but a donation of $5 per per- son is asked for each reading. Susan Stark Will Speak The fourth annual Susan Stark/Friends of the South- field Public Library Oscar Prediction Contest will take place 7 p.m. Mar. 5 in the library's Marcotte Room. Ms. Stark will share her in- side tips on the Academy and give her opinions on the movies nominated for awards. Enjoy The Music Of EXCELLENT ITALIAN CUISINE RON DEPALIV1A Every Tues. & Fri.
