"I went to see her in
Cleveland, that was the first
time I ever saw her," says
creator Dan Goggin, who
directed the Birmingham pro-
duction but did not direct Ms.
Myers' habit-forming debut.
"I remember she had the
lowest headpiece in history
and she looked like the
dumbest Amnesia on Earth."
Because there are so many
productions of Nunsense
throughout the country, Mr.
Goggin says when anybody
leaves a company they take
their nun's habit and their
shoes with them — just in
case a company elsewhere
needs a quick replacement.
"We have nuns on-call all
over the country," says Mr.
Goggin. "Jennifer is a very
quick study, so she has
become our absolute No. 1
first-call Amnesia. You can
put her in any situation. She
has a wonderful gift of being
able to fit in on the spur of the
moment and handle it and
not panic."
Ms. Myers was sitting in
her New York City apartment
in between jobs when she got
a call recently: "Could you be
on the next shuttle to Boston
and do Amnesia tonight?"
She flew out, re-learned the
dance routines in 45 minutes
and went on.
"The same thing happened
in San Francisco and Kansas
City," says Ms. Myers. "Once
I had my own habit, that was
it. Have habit, will travel." ❑

The Southeastern Michigan
Chapter of the American Red
Cross, in conjunction with the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra,
ANR Pipeline Company,
WXYZ-TV7 and the Detroit
News, will sponsor "An Even-
ing for America," a musical
benefit to assist the families
of military personnel in
Wayne, Oakland and Macomb
counties 7:30 p.m. Mar. 10 at
Orchestra Hall.
The benefit is an additional
performance of the DSO's
Weekender Pops concerts
already scheduled for that
week. The program, led by
noted pops conductor Richard
Hayman, will include works
by George Gershwin, Harold
Arlen, Irving Berlin and
other noted American corn-
posers. The Dallas Brass will
be featured along with the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
