Jewish Friends and WKBD

Center Detroit Interfaith
Round Table are sponsoring
an essay contest. Detroit
Metro area high school
seniors of Arabic or Jewish
descent are eligible to win col-
lege scholarships up to
$1,000.
Students must submit an
essay of up to 1,000 words on
the topic: "What it means to
be an American of Arab or
Jewish descent." All entries
must be received by Feb. 28.

Homes For Aged
Receive Grant

The American Association
of Homes for the Aging
(AAHA), the national associa-
tion representing 3,600 non-
profit housing providers to
the aging, including Jewish
Home for Aged and Jewish
Federation Apartments, has
been awarded a $140,000 two-
year grant from the Retire-
ment Research Foundation to
establish a National Clear-
inghouse on Aging and En-
vironmental Design Codes.
The grant was developed by
Cheryl Riskin, director of the
LeVine Institute on Aging of
the Jewish Home for Aged.
Ms. Riskin will be the project
director for development of
the Clearinghouse.
