APRICOT/PRUNE
FILLING
Make above traditional fill-
ing using 3 /2 pound dried apri-
cots and 1/2 pound pitted
prunes or if lekvar is already
prepared, add 1/2 cup diced
dried apricot pieces and 1
tablespoon apricot jam.

CHERRY/ALMOND
FILLING
1 16 ounce can of tart
cherries packed in
water, drained well
1 cup lightly packed
Almond Toasts
(Mondel) crumbs (4-5)
1 tablespoon brown
sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond
extract
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon cherry
liquid
Process almond toasts into
crumbs. Pour into small bowl
and add brown sugar, extract,
cherry liquid and work butter
into mixture with fingers.
Mixture should be slightly
damp and cohesive. Place a
tablespoon of this mixture in
the center of each dough cir-
cle and 4 to 5 cherries on top.
Wrap as directed above.
Brush with milk.

POPPY SEED
CRUNCH FILLING
2 ounces poppy seeds
cup milk
2 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup golden raisins
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons seedless
red raspberry

preserves
2 /3 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup Rice Krispies
cereal
In a medium-size bowl soak
poppy seeds in milk for 5
minutes. Cook seeds/milk
mixture with margarine,
raisins, and honey to boiling,
stirring constantly until mix-
ture thickens and resembles
wet sand. Cool and stir in
preserves, walnuts and cereal.
Place a tablespoon in the
center of each dough circle
and wrap.

ALMOND DOUGH
Eliminate citrus juice and
zest in traditional dough
recipe. Add 1 teaspoon al-
mond extract and 1 table-
spoon finely chopped blanch-
ed almonds. Blend into dough
with your fingers.

CHOCOLATE DOUGH
Eliminate citrus juice and
zest in traditional dough
recipe. Add 1 teaspoon of
chocolate extract and grate 2
ounces of semisweet choco-
late. Blend into dough with
your fingers. ❑
