A
rchives of American
Art, a bureau of the
Smithsonian Institu-
tions, presented a Lundi
Gras XXXI at the Rattle-
snake Club on Feb. 11.
Dr. Irving F. Burton was
the honorary chairman,
while Doug and Sydell
Schubot were co-chairmen.
Patrons were treated to a
gourmet dinner and a merry
cocktail hour with waiters
dressed as mimes. Some of
the patrons included:
Marilyn Schlain, Jo and
Charles Kessler, Brian
and Michelle Schubot,
Harriet and Sheldon
Fuller and Burt and Suzy
Farbman.
Laura Rubin accom-
panied her uncle, Dr. Bur-
ton, since Mrs. Burton was
recovering from a broken hip
suffered during a skiing
accident. Dr. and Mrs. Bur-
ton were among the Ar-
chives' first benefactors
after its 1954 inception. Dr.
Burton is a fervent art sup-
porter as an Archives and
DIA trustee, and founder of
the Associates of Performing
Arts and Antiquaries group
at the DIA.
The next Archives of
American Art event, "Feast
Your Eyes," will be held on
March 17 at the Standard
Federal Bank with a buffet
and private afterglow. For
information, call Jeanne
Zanke, 226-7544.
