violence, that we could
negotiate a peaceful settle-
ment to any international
problem.
It is possible that millions
of people died because it took
the United States so long to
enter the war. If the United
States had truly renounced
violence, then it seems likely
that no one would have stop-
ped Hitler.
If so, there would have been
no opportunity for that nice
rabbi to publish his kindly ar-
ticle in The Jewish News.

With sale prices
this great, even
amateurs can
save big.

Detroiters
Purchase Trees

In celebration of Tu
B'Shevat, Sylvia and Erwin
Harvith hosted a garden par-
ty at their Pompano Beach
home. Max Sosin served as
master of ceremonies and the
speaker was Edward Rosen-
thal, regional director of the
Jewish National Fund.
Gardens of at least 100
trees to be planted in Israel
were purchased by 36 Detroit
individuals and families. In
addition to a garden of trees,
Sylvia and Erwin Harvith are
establishing Keren Dorots in
honor of each of their five
grandchildren. Jack and
Miriam Shenkman purchas-
ed a grove of 1,000 trees.
