The Purimspiel, the Jewish
Community Center of
Washtenaw County's annual
comedy club, will be 6 p.m
Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. at the
Center.
Each year, some of Ann Ar-
bor's most esteemed intellec-
tuals pit their wits in a
debate over the respective
merits of the Holy Haman-
tashen and the Lovely Latke.
Participants this year will be
U-M English professor Enoch
Brater, Ann Arbor city coun-
cilwoman Liz Brater, U-M
Hill director Joseph Kohane,
and Jerold Lax, an attorney.
Dr. Robert Green, a U-M
physician, will be the
moderator.
Desserts will follow the
debate. Reservations are
necessary. Call the Center,

Birmingham Group
Sets Benefit

The Birmingham Musicale
will present a benefit 8 p.m.
Feb. 22-24 at the Birmingham
Community House.
The musical production will
include excerpts from Phan-

tom of the Opera, Les
Miserables, Fiddler on the
Roof and The Music Man.
Friday and Saturday perfor-
mances will be cabaret style,
with cash bar and seating at
tables for eight. Sunday's per-
formance will be a 2 p.m.
matinee in theater seating.

A classical music concert
and a luncheon to support the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra
will be held 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22
at Temple Beth El. A DSO
horn quartet consisting of

Mark Abbott will perform a
mini-concert. The luncheon
will be served at 12:30 p.m.
