Department Seeks Survivors New York (JTA) — The U.S. Justice Department has asked Jewish organizations for assistance in locating survivors of two subsections of the Mauthausen concen- tration camp in Austria, in connection with a war- crimes case it is currently investigating. The request came from the department's Office of Spe- cial Investigations, which prosecutes Nazi war criminals and collaborators. OSI said it wants to locate persons who were imprison- ed in Loibl-Pass from the summer of 1944 to May 1945 and in the subcamp known as Gusen. I from June 1942 to August 1944. The agency identified Gusen I by pointing out that it contained several Austrian and German manufacturing plants that employed slave labor, among them Deutsch Erd-und Steinwerke, Steyr-Daimler- Puch and Messerschmidt. The World Jewish Con- gress and the Anti- Defamation League of B'nai B'rith have invited in- dividuals who can be of as- sistance to communicate with them. The contact at ADL is Elliot Welles, director of the Nazi War Criminals Task Force, 823 U.N. Plaza, N.Y., N.Y. 10017. The contact at WJC is Bessy Pupko, World Jewish Congress, 501 Madison Avenue, N.Y., N.Y. 10022, or call (212) 755-5770. Or survivors may contact Betty Shave, senior trial at- torney, Office of Special In- - vestigations Criminal Divi- sion, U.S. Department of Justice, 1400 New York Avenue N.W., 11th floor, Bond Building, Washington, D.C. 20530. Jerusalem (JPFS) — The Ministry of Industry and Trade will take legal action against retailers who great- ly inflate prices for masking tape and plastic sheeting be- cause of the emergency run on supplies. The ministry has begun a special operation to crack down on such offenders amid reports that some stores were selling materials used to seal rooms against chemical warfare and other emergency items at inflated prices. )0,1 > 4/IVIVERSITS4 The Michigan Chapter of the American Friends of Hebrew University in celebration of ISRAEL INDEPENDENCE DAY • Families • Individuals t. 489.1511 C2t_, 4i: PROGRESSIVE COUNSELING S rs I Carol E.
