Ste. 1140 Southfield, MI 48075 Kenny's growing statewide network assists people with mobility impairments in achiev- ing their maximum potential. The agency's combination of free services and resources, advocacy and physical re- habilitation supports people with mobility impairments in their efforts to lead indepen- dent, satisfying lives. Volunteers are needed: • To staff its ACCESS hotline, answering the phone, resear- ching responses to inquiries and following up with informa- tion or a referral for the client. • To participate in the Speakers Bureau. Participants will be trained in speaking about Kenny and relative topics. • To perform office functions: filing, copying, light typing, research. • To teach "Attitudes," a 45-minute program using creative discussion, videos and hands-on activities to help children understand dis- abilities. Skills needed: The most urgent need is for "Attitudes" teachers. Volunteers need not have teaching experience, but must have an interest in children, and interest in disability issues, the ability to speak comfortably to groups. Time commitment: for the "Attitudes" program, a 4-month commitment is required. Contact: Lynn Jahn at 569-8180. Tourette Syndrome is a neurological disorder charac- terized by tics — involuntary, rapid sudden movements that occur repeatedly in the same way. The Association is an all volunteer. non-profit group which serves all of southern Michigan, providing support groups, medical referrals, assistance with educational placements and advocacy to those with Tourette Syndrome. Volunteers are needed to assist with folding, stuffing, stamping and addressing envelopes for a planned large educational-medical mailing. Estimated time commitment: Anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on the size of the mailing and the number of volunteers. The pro- ject is slated for early 1991.
