Purim Party

Adat Shalom Synagogue
will hold its annual fund-
raiser, Purim Party Plus, 7
p.m. Feb. 28 at the synagogue.
"Let There Be Light" is the
theme of Purim Party Plus
VIII, which will raise funds to
improve the lighting in the
synagogue's main sanctuary.
Cantor Simon Spiro, will be
the featured entertainer in a
cabaret performance. Cantor
Spiro is popular in the British
music world, on the European
concert stage, in cabarets and
on television.
Participants will have the
opportunity to win a number
of prizes. The evening in-
cludes cocktails, a buffet and
dancing to the sounds of The
People's Choice.

Plus VIII are Elaine and
Gary Rosenblatt and Bluma
and Leonard Siegal. A $250
donation to the synagogue
will admit two to the event
and enable participants to

Israel Update
On Feb. 17

The Detroit Zionist Federa-
tion's "Israel Update" series,
presenting news and
background on the Gulf War,
will continue 10 a.m. Feb. 17
at Congregation Beth Achim.
In addition to war news,
speakers discuss political,
economic and diplomatic
developments in Israel and
historical background of the
conflict.
The series, co-sponsored by
the Jewish Community Coun-
cil and the Israel Programs
Center, continues through
March 3.
