WZO Building
Despite War

New York (JTA) — The
World Zionist Organization
opened its new American
headquarters at dedication
ceremonies here last week
attended by more than 150
Jewish leaders and Israeli
diplomats, including Israel's
ambassador to the United
States, Zalman Shoval.
A message was read from
President Chaim Herzog of
Israel, and a videotape mes-
sage was presented from
Simcha Dinitz, a former am-
bassador to Washington who
now chairs the WZO and
Jewish Agency Executives.
The festive occasion was
overshadowed by the Per-
sian Gulf crisis and the pos-
sibility that Israel may be
embroiled in war.
In addition to the WZO-
American Section, the oc-
cupants of the new premises
at 110 E. 59th St. are the
United Israel Appeal;
Zionist Delegation to North
America; American Zionist
Federation; American
Zionist Youth Foundation;
the Conference of Presidents
of Major American Jewish
Organizations; and the Jew-
ish Agency.
