Computer Use
Left To Aides
Jerusalem (JPFS) — Prac-
tically no members of the
Knesset are personally mak-
ing use of some 250 corn-
puter terminals installed in
the Knesset at a cost of hun-
dreds of thousands of dollars,
according to computer
technicians working there.
The technicians said the
members rely on their
assistants to learn how to
use the terminals.
The computers are meant
to supply Knesset members
with continuous informa-
tion. Among other things,
they can supply an update
on the headcount of coalition
vs. opposition members on
the floor, to forestall the pos-
sibility of one side calling for
a quick surprise vote while it
has a temporary majority of
members present.
The system also keeps a
running account of items
such as the attendance
record and voting record of
each member, queries asked
of cabinet members and
their rate of answering
them.
Poem Inflames
British Jewry
London (JTA) — A crude
anti-Semitic rhyme mailed
to Jewish organizations and
businesses has been referred
to the attorney general by
the Board of Deputies of
British Jews.
Titled "Holohoax" by
"Simon Wiesenstool," a pun
on the name of the famous
Nazi-hunter, it mocks the
Holocaust and pokes fun at
the gassing of Jews.
The Board of Deputies ex-
pressed confidence that ac-
tion will be taken. It pointed
out that the attorney gen-
eral only last week approved
the first of two prosecutions
for circulating anti-Semitic
material under a 1986 law.
