Lawrence Hoffman Temple Beth El Glazer Institute Dr. Lawrence Hoffman, author, lecturer and liturgist, will be the scholar-in residence for the 49th annual Glazer Institute Feb. 9 at Temple Beth El. The Glazer Institute reaches out to the Catholic, Protestant and Eastern Or- thodox clergy of metropolitan Detroit, presenting Jewish lecturers who annually ad- dress issues of mutual con- cern in a day long seminar. Dr. Hoffman was a student rabbi at Temple Beth Or of the Deaf in New York City. During the three years he spent at the Temple, he pioneered in the development of a sign language expressive of Jewish concepts so that his congregants could more easi- ly claim their place in Judaism.
