Cruise lines make it easy for you to
decide what clothes to bring by
suggesting dress codes for the
evenings. The dress codes refer most
specifically to what male passengers
wear.
Evening attire on cruises fall into
three categories: formal, semi-formal,
and casual. Your travel agent can tell
you the schedule for your ship.
During the day, dress is always
casual — bathing suits, shorts and T-
shirts. Shorts and T-shirts are not
permitted in the dining room during
dinner.
Don't forget to pack exercise
clothes for those workouts in the gym,
and your favorite costume if your ship
has a masquerade night.
Bring a camera, you'll want to
capture your trip on film. If you forget
it, never fear, a ship board
photographer is on hand to snap
pictures of you and your beloved (for,
naturally, a fee).
Passports are generally not required
for United States citizens, but check
with your travel agent to make sure.
Travelers checks can usually be
cashed on board the ship, and credit
cards are accepted for on board
purchases. Ashore, passengers
should carry U.S. money in small
denominations.
If tennis is your racket, you may
want to bring your equipment to play
at hotels on the islands. The same
applies for golf. Royal Caribbean is
the official cruise line of the
Professional Golfers Association
(PGA), the PGA and the Senior PGA
Tour. Special golfing privileges are
available for Royal Caribbean
passengers.

Throwing Shoes

Old shoes, now tied to the back of
a newlywed couple's car, were orig-
inally thrown at the bride. Once
shoes were one of many fertility
symbols associated with wedding
ceremonies. Other fertility symbols
include rice and cake.
