Glorious Garden

It takes planning to get the wedding

") icture this. A June after-
noon, temperature in the
mid-70s and not a cloud
in the azure blue sky. Your
garden is in faultless colorful bloom,
the perfect blossoms scenting the air
(strangely, there are no bees). The
caterer's crew is putting the finishing
touches on the hors d'oeuvres as you
calmly await the arrival of your guests.
Picture this. A June afternoon,
temperature in the mid-90s, humidity
about — oh — 85 percent. The clouds
portend an imminent thundershower.
Killer bees from South America have
not only invaded the U.S., they've
arrived in your backyard and are
angrily awaiting the hors d'oeuvres
and your guests.
For anyone considering a garden
wedding, Scenario Number One is, of
course, the ideal. But as Scenario
Number Pwo indicates, you can't
count on Mother Nature to cooper-
ate. That's why people planning a
garden wedding most often opt to
hold it indoors — what you give up
in ambiance, you gain in climate and
bug control. But if your heart is set
on actually being outside, there are
ways to accomplish that goal and still
keep your guests comfortable.
