the more popular cuts right now. They
come in a variety of collar styles,
fabrics and colors, and many offer
pants in a contrasting material.
Another popular style is the
cropped black dinner jacket, cut like
an "Eisenhower jacket" and worn
with baggy black striped, solid or
herringbone trousers.
Your formalwear shop will have
tuxedos in various pastels, but the
traditional colors — black, gray and
white — are the most popular as well
as the most fashionable.
When selecting the right color for
your tie and cummerbund, it is best
to bring along a swatch of fabric from
your bride's dress as well as those of
her attendants so that your selections
won't clash.
Tie and cummerbund combos
come in a wild variety of colors and
prints. There are lightning bolts,
tropical prints, neon and iridescent
shades as well as "Batman" logos.
Also, when picking a style, it's easy
to go overboard with flashy color
combinations and cuts. But remem-
ber, although you might have broad
shoulders and a narrow waist, the
bride's brother may have a belly that
looks like he swallowed a pony keg,
so choose a style that will make
everyone presentable.

GETTING FITTED
Getting everybody fitted is a

discomfort. There are a million
excuses that make it difficult to get
together — the best man is flying in
from Phoenix, your brother has
softball practice, etc.
If you can make a party out of the
fitting — perhaps with a little
refreshment as a reward at the end
of the ordeal — it will be easier.
Failing that, each man will have to
get in there solo. And if some mem-
bers are coming from out of town,
have them get fitted at a formalwear
store in their area. Most shops have
cards to mail to out-of-towners. Be
sure that they return these cards at
least six weeks before the ceremony.
Pick up your tuxes at least 24 hours
in advance, and most importantly, try
them on. That's the only way to avoid
the last-minute panic. 1
