makeup artist can balance the

Most hair salons in town will allow
brides to bring in their headpieces
to work out a complimentary hair
style. Brides should try this at least
a month before the wedding, so there
are no surprises.

Bridesmaids & Moms

According to Mrs. Aerts-Niddam of
Modern Bride magazine, in an effort to
make bridesmaids' dresses more
wearable, the bridesmaid market is
moving in the ready-to-wear direction.
In other words, whatever is fashion-
able in cocktail dresses is turning up
in bridesmaid dresses. In fact, some
brides are outfitting their attendants
from the selection of after-five
dresses already in stores rather than
special ordering.
For spring, floral patterns make an
appearance, this year in brushstrokes
of bright colors, Mrs. Aerts-Niddam
continues. There is still an abundance
of black bridesmaid dresses on the
market. A new look is the strapless
dress, short or long, accompanied by
a bolero jacket.
Detroit bridal stores note the new
trend of the bridesmaid suit. "It's a
very strong look and the women can
wear it after the wedding," says Ms.
Gottschling. Ms. Pollak-Zimberg ech-
oes the sentiment and says a two-
piece suit is money well spent since
it is sophisticated and practical.
