are wearing the longer veil, it's
because Mom wants it. They usually
detach it for the ceremony," says Ms.
Mitchell.
For contemporary gowns, Ms.
Mitchell observes that this season the
brides are choosing conservative
headpieces. One style Ms. Mitchell
creates is the bow with crushed
flowers. "It goes great with silk
shantung."
Some bridal customers prefer very
bouffant headpieces, with a pouf of
veiling in back. Floral-decorated
headpieces are most popular.
Important Extras
A few well-chosen accessories
complete the look. Depending on
their gowns, brides are selecting the
following to enhance their individual
styles.
Many of the local bridal stores offer
one-stop shopping where customers
can purchase their gown and all
bridal accessories including jewelry,
gloves, shoes and even pantyhose.
Earrings Dangling earrings that
stop just short of the shoulder are the
latest rage, especialy in pearl, crystal
and gold filigree. Or it could be pearl
clips from which long tassels hang.
Brides who prefer less attention-get-
ting styles may opt for earrings with
floral accents.
If you're going to wear
Pearls
pearls, think big, think more. Wear
multiple strands of pearls; wear
oversized pearls; wear multiple
strands of oversized pearls. If you're
going to wear a bracelet, make it a
pearl-covered cuff.
