Continued from Page 14 at the ceremony. If it's being held in a synagogue, you can make arrange- ments with the cantor as well as the synagogue's organist, if there is one. You could also hire a few musicians (strings, a flute) to play. Or the band you hire to play at the reception may provide musicians for the ceremony. The bridal couple may want to have a voice in selecting the processional and recessional music at the cere- mony. Usually, there are few restrictions on what music they may select, and the cantor can suggest several lovely liturgical pieces. At the reception, the type of music you have will depend on such factors as the affair's formality and if you want dancing. Weddings held early in the day — brunches and lunches — tend not to have dancing but you will still probably want music, for background. Locally, most evening weddings (and many afternoon weddings, too) have dancing. Although you could use a disc jockey and taped music, this usually translates to hiring a band. Photographs Wedding photographs fall into two categories: formal portraits taken before the wedding and informal candids taken at the affair. Additionally, you can have the wedding videotaped. At the reception, the trend is to more candid shots and fewer ar- ranged shots. Nowadays, wedding photographs are all in color, with the average spent on still photography ranging from $1,500 to $2,500. Photographs and videotapes are always a challenge in the sun. Photographers should scout out the location beforehand, at the same time of day the affair will be held, and note such details as where the flowers/greens will be placed on the chuppah. You can make arrangements for the photographer and videotaping at the same time you talk to florists, about two to three months in advance of the wedding. You might find it helpful to view friends' albums and videos before making a decision.
