(g tzEnD_ Benefit Concert At Masonic Leonard Smith will conduct the 60-piece Detroit Concert Band in a benefit concert Jan. 13, at the Masonic Temple Theatre. As a fund-raiser for the 1990 $5 million renova- tion of the theatre, the even- ing will include champagne and hors d'oeuvres before the performance from 6-7 p.m. with an afterglow following the concert. Proceeds from tickets will go towards the cost of the restoration. The recent renovation of the theatre included restoration of the theatre's seats, installa- tion of more than 4,000 square yards of carpeting in the auditorium, extensive refurbishing and painting of all public areas and a new roof for the historic building. Additionally, the 17,000 square foot Fountain Ball- room, located on the lower level of the auditorium, was re-designed. The Detroit Concert Band, directed for 44 years by Leonard Smith, will perform a program of popular marches saluting several historic com- posers including Ludwig von Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and John Philip Sousa. For ticket information, call 832-7100. Library Plans Kids' Programs Mom and Tot Storytime will take place at the Huntington Woods Library 10:30 a.m. Monday mornings through Jan. 28. This is for children 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years old, accom- panied by a parent. There is a limit of 10 children. Preschool storytime will be as follows: Jan. 22 — evening storytime 7:15 p.m.; meets every other Tuesday. Jan. 24 — pre-school storytime 10:30 a.m. every Thursday through March 7. This is for children 31/2 to 5 years old, not yet in kindergarten. There is a limit of 25 children in each session.
