Our readers share their fondest camp memories and some summer souvenirs.

My fondest memory of
Camp Tanuga was when my bunk

and two other bunks took a trip to
Canada to swim in the rapid falls on
Lake Superior. My good friend Scott
Schwartz and I slid down the cold, rocky
falls. Then we climbed back up them and
watched them glisten in the sun.

My fondest camp memory

takes me back three summers to Girl
Pioneer Camp Tamarack. It was a dark
and stormy night when my counselor said
goodnight and left for a meeting. BOOM!
The thunder roared and I screamed,
which was followed by my counselor
rushing in. I told her that the storm had
scared me and she told all the other girls
(seven) that they could sleep right near
me, so I wouldn't be scared. I remember
talking all night.

My favorite camp experience

was at Habonim Camp Tavor. It was the
first Shabbat eve at camp. The whole
camp walked up Shabbat Hill. We
watched Machane Bonim (camp for pre-
counselors) do a fancy Israeli dance. Then
we went down to eat. It was really
special. Everybody sang the prayers. After
the traditional chicken meal, we all sang
z'mirot l'Shabbat (Shabbat songs). After
that came the best part. We all trooped
over to the basketball courts to do Israeli
dances. It was such a magical feeling,
everyone got into the Shabbat feeling and
danced whether or not they knew how. I
think that feeling will always be with me.

My favorite thing at
Camp Sea-Gull is rock-

climbing and arts and crafts. At arts and
crafts you make bracelets, beads and rock
gardens. Rock-climbing is very difficult to
do. We do it in the "gully." Camp Sea-Gull
is the best!
