The Detroit Science Center
will close its Omnimax
Theater Dec. 31 through Feb.
7, 1991, for renovation.
During the theater closing
the Exhibit Hall and the
Discovery Theater will be
open. Visitors will be able to
experience over 50 hands-on
exhibits and participate in
numerous NASA and other
satellite programs.
The Omnimax Theater will
reopen with the exciting Om-
nimax film To The Limit.
This film takes viewers inside
the body as a mountain
climber, skier, and ballerina
perform magnificent feats of
physical endurance. To The
Limit will be showing until
April 7.
During the month of
January the Center will offer
a reduced admission of $3 per
person 6 years and over and
$2 for 4 and 5 year olds.
January hours are Friday 9
a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday 10
a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday
noon-6 p.m. Regular admis-
sion to the Center resumes
Feb. 7.

U-M Music Society
January Concerts
-The University of Michigan
Musical Society will host
recitals by two performing ar-
tists and a chamber orchestra
concert by a German ensem-
ble in January.
Cellist Yo-Yo Ma will appear
Jan. 10; soprano Leontyne
Price, Jan. 14; and Camerata
Musica — Berlin on Jan. 30.
Yo-Yo Ma is a participant in
the 100th anniversary
celebration of New York's
Carnegie Hall, and three days
after his Ann Arbor recital,
he will perform the complete
(six) Bach Suites in recital
there.
Leontyne Price will make
her eighth Ann Arbor ap-
pearance, assisted by pianist
David Garvey. They will per-
form music of Handel,
Mozart, Richard Strauss, Ver-
di, and Lee Hoiby.
Camerate Musica — Berlin
is one of its country's leading
chamber orchestras. Return-
ing to Ann Arbor for its se-
cond concert, the ensemble
will perform Handel's Concer-
to Grosso in D minor, Op. 6,
No. 10; Mozart's Divertimen-
to in F, K. 138; Vivaldi's Con-
certo for Soprano Block flute
and Strings, RV 444; Alessan-
dro Scarlatti's Concerto
Grosso No. 3 in F Major;
Vivaldi's Concerto for Two
Violins, Cello, and Strings.
