"Exercise Right and Get in Shape!

Judy Frankel uses a treadmill as part of her exercise program.

door at 8 a.m. to work out
with you," says the 52-year-
old Bloomfield resident.
Ken Levy takes a different
approach to exercising, with a
workout routine he
developed, Kaerobics, that
combines karate and aerobic
techniques. He also teaches
Kickboxercise, combining
principles of karate and
boxing.
"I get people in shape, im-
prove their muscle tone and
at the same time they learn
self-defense. It's a program
people can take into their liv-
ing rooms, and they need on-
ly inexpensive equipment to

practice their kicks, and
strikes," he says.
Mr. Levy is an instructor at
CMI Health and Tennis Club
in Southfield. Along with one-
on-one instruction,.he teaches
his self defense strategies to
groups of all sizes.
"An exercise video can say
keep your back straight, and
tell you to breathe during the
most exerting parts of the
workout," says Mr. Levy. "But
personal trainers are right
there with you. They'll help
prevent unnecessary injuries,
and will show you how to get
the most out of each specific
exercise." 11]

For people whose goal is to stay in shape,
cross training is an idea whose time has
come.

f you are tired of the same
old exercise routine, or
you're afraid that a runn-
ing or swimming program
will only leave you
exhausted and bored, maybe
you should consider the
newest way to stay in shape
— cross training.

Cross training simply con-
sists of varying routines in
order to keep workouts
fresh, allowing more com-
plete conditioning and
avoiding the boredom and
injuries often associated
with repetitive, mundane
workout schedules.

A cross training program
can be as simple as varying
equipment used at the gym,

• HOME OR OFFICE

• CIRCUIT TRAINING

• MANUAL RESISTANCE

• STRETCHING & MASSAGE
