Bells Ring
At Birmingham

Bells Are Ringing, the 1956
musical by Betty Comden and
Adolph Green with music by
Jule Styne, will open a five-
week engagement Dec.
29-Jan. 27 at the Birm-
ingham Theatre.
Bells Are Ringing is about
a telephone answering ser-
vice operator with a "heart of
gold" and an unquenchably
jolly outlook. She can't help
getting involved in her
customers' lives while trying
to solve their assorted pro-
blems. She finds herself mix-
ed up with a song-writing
dentist, a frustrated aspiring
actor, a playwright who can't
seem to finish his play (and
whose voice she falls in love
with) and a rather bizarre
company that takes orders for
operatic recordings.
There will be a special New
Year's Eve performance Dec.
31.
For ticket information, call
the Birmingham Theatre box
office, 644-3533.
