The corn- posers and their works in- clude Muhal Richard Abrams' Transversion 1, Op. 6 (New York, N.Y); Noel Da Costa's Blue Memories (New York, N.Y.); Joseph Hayes' Sunday 3:00 p.m., A Sym- phonic Sketch (Detroit, Mich.); Charles A. Harrison's Reflection (Evanston, Ill.); Brian W. Smith's Deliverance (New York, N.Y.); and Ed Bland's Piece for Chamber Orchestra (Los Angeles, Calif.). Each of the six composers selected will have their works read at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Forum reading/re- hearsal sessions on Feb. 16-19 at which time one of the six compositions will be selected by a panel of composers and musicians for inclusion on the DSO's Classical Roots subscription concerts, con- ducted by DSO associate con- ductor Leslie B. Dunner, later that week. DSO Sets Special Concert The Detroit Symphony Or- chestra will present a special concert entitled "A Salute to Red Cross Blood Donors: con- ducted by DSO associate con- ductor Leslie B. Dunner and guest-hosted by noted WQRS- FM radio personality Charles Greenwell 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Orchestra Hall. The con- cert will be the culmination of the Red Cross Blood Drive during the week of Dec. 26-31. Complimentary tickets to the concert will be given to blood donors who donate at any of the nine Red Cross fix- ed donation centers during those days. Fisher Theatre Hosts 'Hair' Hair, the musical that defined a generation, comes to the Fisher Theatre for eight performances Jan. 15-20. Originally presented at the New York Shakespeare Festival in 1967, Hair was its first contemporary musical. It combined the Broadway musical style with the era's pop music sound. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster Outlets or the Fisher Theatre Box Office, 872-1000.
