he filing of Chapter XI
by Charley's Restau-
rant Group, which
operates nine restaurants in
Michigan and Ohio, including
Charley's Seafood Taverns,
Meriwethers and Clamdig-
gers, is part of an over-all
repositioning taking place by
Dick Sikorski, president and
CEO, and cohorts.
Paul Yarmoluk, vice presi-
dent and chief operating of-
ficer since August, who dealt
in big numbers with Daka In-
ternational/Fuddruckers
Group ($400 million in ser-
vices) and W.R. Grace before
that ($1 billion), spearheaded
successful repositioning ven-
tures for both companies.
Mr. Yarmoluk's "New
Generation" of Charley's
Seafood Taverns includes new
look, menu and new style of
service.
"We will continue to im-
prove until we become the
best-run restaurant company
in Michigan," says Mr.
Yarmoluk.
Frank Fazio, highly-
regarded vice president of
marketing, is also a veteran of
W.R. Grace and was
associated with Paul at
Fuddruckers.
Past couple of months, most
of the Charley's Restaurant
Group restaurants have been
renamed Charley's Seafood
Taverns . . . The one in West
Bloomfield recently put Phil
Tall at the helm as general
manager, which shows the
new way of thinking by the
chain that is under a
rebuilding process . . . His
over 10 years in restaurant
management will bring the
former Bloomfield Charley's a
lot of previously lacking
know-how with his awards for
customer satisfaction, pro-
fitability and sales achieve-
ment . . . "Phil will make an
impact," says Mr. Yarmoluk
. . . The Clamdiggers name
will also probably be
changed.
ONE OF THE BEST,
pianist Bob Seeley at
Charlie's Crab, Troy, since
opening in 1976 by Chuck
Muer, who still owns it, will
represent the United States
in the Boogie Woogie & Stripe
Piano Concert, March 7 at
Hotel Lutetia, Paris, France
. . . Nine piano stylists from
European countries will also
vie for honors.
CONGRATS . . . to Harold
Bloch . . . on his 75th birth-

- day . . . celebrated with party
at Dimitri's of Southfield by
wife Janet for family and
friends.
NO MORE Oliver's Pizza
in Tel-Nine Plaza on Nine
Mile Rd. and Telegraph .. .
It's now the Char-Broiler, a
seven-day-a-week carry-out
operation owned by Dan
Smith, 12 years with Popeye's
Chicken.
BETTY COMDEN and
Adolph Green are still work-
ing together . . . and this year
marks the 50th anniversary
of their show biz partnership
. . . One of Broadway's biggest
hits of the '50s, Bells Are
Ringing, Ms. Comden and Mr.
Green's 1956 musical with
music by Julie Styne, opens a
five-week engagement at the
Birmingham Theatre, Dec.
29-Jan. 27 . . . In East Had-
dam, Conn., their show is en-
joying sold-out houses at the
world-noted Goodspeed Opera
House, where it opened in
September with songs like,
"Just In Time" and "The Par-
ty's Over."
SEEMS LIKE the adults
of today have their timing off
. . . Most were children when
everything was the child's
fault . . . Now that they are
parents, everything is the
parent's fault.
OVER 900 were auditioned
by the NBC "Santa Barbara"
soap opera crew recently in
Detroit looking for new talent
. . . Carolyn Skolnick, stylist
at Charter House Barbers on
the Boardwalk, Orchard Lake
Road, was one of the only 30
selected to read a script for a
role on the daily Channel 4
10:30 a.m. soap . . . The "San-
ta Barbara" crew has been do-
ing a nationwide jaunt for
talent and the Hotel Radisson
Plaza was just one of many
more, so Carolyn knows she
should continue styling hair
and forget the dreams ..
Carolyn doesn't have acting
aspirations . . . but neither
did Marilyn Monroe . . . and
she didn't even know how to
style hair . . . just in case.
CELEBRITY BALL by
Variety, The Children's Chari-
ty is June 2 at Ritz Carlton
Hotel in Dearborn . . . honor-
ing the Mike and Marion Il-
itch family.
CONGRATS . . . to Mark
Jason Levine on his 16th bir-
thday . . . The son of Richard
and June Levine also receiv-
ed his varsity letter on the
Harrison High cross-country
team.
TODAY, DEC. 21, makes it
anniversary number three for

Mr. Sports — One of A Kind
on Orchard Lake Road north
of 14 Mile . . . It's probably
the epitome of sports bars .. .
with hockey, basketball,
darts, golf and bowling
machines . . . and a big
favorite for bar mitzvahs. Mr.
Sports — °lie of A Kind, with
also a Redford location, is
owned by Paul Sinelli,
assisted by Kim McNamara,
his highly efficient general
manager . . . The 20-by-20-
foot TV screen in Farmington
Hills is Michigan's largest
outside of movie theaters .. .
and even has a simulated
hockey rink dance floor with
nets at both ends plus a
simulated boxing ring for
seating.
Sports paraphernalia is
everywhere . . . Walls around
the dance floor are lined with
original Detroit Red Wing
jerseys like those of past

greats Gordie Howe and Alex
Delvecchio; a football from
Gale Sayers, Chicago Bears
all-pro running back; helmet
from former Pittsburgh
Steeler "Mean Joe" Green;
Detroit Piston's Dennis Rod-
man's jersey; and basketball

No wonder so many
youngsters tell mom and dad
they want their party there.
FOURTH ANNUAL
"Michigan The Bountiful"
gourmet gala is set for Jan.
20, 3-6 p.m. at Southfield
Civic Center . . . It'll be spon-
sored by City of Southfield
and Michigan Chefs de
Cuisine to raise scholarship
funds for apprentice chefs.
Dishing out some of
Michigan's finest food will be
. . . Master Chef Milos
Cihelka and Chef de Cuisine
Steven Allen, Golden Mush-
room; Chefs Jimmy Schmidt,
Keith Joseflak and Mike
Schram, Rattlesnake Club;
Chef Keith Famie, Les
Auteurs; Chef Michael Houli-
han, London Chop House;
Chef Leopold Schaeli,
Machus; Chef Brian Polcyn,
Pike Street; and Chef Matt
Prentice, Sebastians.
Each will serve one of their
specialties . . . a hot or cold
hors d'oeuvre, soup, entree or
dessert . . . The chefs will also
compete for the best table
decor, allowing guests to also
