many years in advance,"Ms.
Teutsch says.
What works for the artist
is the sense that she is con-
tributing to a greater good.
"I felt UNICEF was a
wonderful tzedakah. It
meets the needs of children,
saving children's lives."
The artist is thankful that
Israel doesn't need to draw
on UNICEF's resources.
"Israel, thank God, does not
need their aid," she says.
But UNICEF does benefit
from Israelis working on
their behalf. "There is an
Israeli committee for
UNICEF," the artist says.

inherent message, Ms.
Teutsch says. "It says to all
that our cultural contribu-
tions as Jews are of inter-
national importance. And
when Jews send these cards
to each other, it says that we
connect not only to each
other but to the world as
well."

Sets Concert

Fedora Horowitz, concert
pianist and founder and artist
director of Detroit's Lyric
Chamber Ensemble, has ar-
ranged an afternoon Mozart
concert 3:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at
Orchestra Hall to benefit the
Help the Romanian Child-
ren's Fund. The fund aids the
thousands of severely abused
children in Romanian
orphanages.
Proceeds from tickets will
go directly into the fund, ac-
cordng to Manuela Cruga,
benefit chairman.
