Jewish News Chanukah Art
Contest will be displayed at
the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center
through the month of
December.
The winning entries were
featured in the Dec. 7 Jewish
News, with the grand prize
winner by 7-year-old Lesley
Brodsky Serri adorning the
cover.
The 184 entries were given
to JPM to be hung in time
for last Sunday's
"Chanukah Inside Out"
program sponsored by Jew-
ish Experiences for
Families, the JCC and the
L'Chayim section of The
Jewish News.
CHAIM
Sponsors Contest
CHAIM, Children of Holo-
caust-survivors Association in
Michigan, will sponsor its an-
nual Holocaust Education
Writing Competition. High
schools in Oakland County
and Ingham County will be
invited to participate.
The topic is "Why should
students learn about the
Holocaust? How can this
learning experience be ap-
plied to life today?" All en-
tries must be postmarked by
March 15, 1991.
The entry must be an essay,
350-1,000 words. It should be
typed, double spaced or writ-
ten legibly on 8 1/2x11 paper.
An entry form must accom-
pany each entry. Make sure
that the student's name and
school name appear only on
the entry form, not on the
essay. For entry forms, write

All participants will receive
a certificate from CHAIM
acknowledging their
participation.
First, second and third win-
ners will receive monetary
awards by May 2. The
Holocaust Education Com-
mittee is comprised of
Chairperson Betty Rotberg
Ellias and her committee
members Nina Kent, Evelyn
Ribitwer Sahn, Charles Silow
and Rosa Chessler.
Temple Israel
Hosts Conclave
The Temple Israel Youth
Group will host a conclave for
MSTY (Michigan State Tem-
ple Youth) Dec. 14-16. The
Youth Group will present a
creative Chanukah Sabbath
service 8 p.m. Dec. 14 at the
temple.
