ALYN HOSPITAL
The newly formed Detroit
Friends of ALYN Hospital in
Jerusalem held a parlor
meeting at the home of
Steven and Arlene Victor
with guest speaker Rabbi
Chuck Diamond of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek on
Nov. 28.
ALYN Hospital is Israel's
only long term orthopedic
and rehabilitation center for
physically handicapped
children. It is a non-profit
organization. ALYN is an
acronym from the Hebrew
Agudah Le'ezrat Yeladirn
Nachim, which means
organization to aid han-
dicapped children. The
Detroit Friends chapter is
one of many international
chapters.
The hospital was founded
by the late Dr. Henry
Keller of New York in 1932.
He was the uncle of
Herbert and Reva Lazarus
and the great-uncle of Lou
and Paula Glazier.
Guests at the meeting
were shown a video about
the hospital and slides.
"This is a special charity for
me," said Rabbi Diamond,
who visits the hospital
whenever he is in Israel. He
entertained the group with
personal vignettes about
ALYN.
Some of the ALYN sup-
porters included: Anaruth
and Henri Bernard, Ann
and Leonard Baruch,
Lauren Bruss, Bess and
Moishe Glazier and
Rhona Fidler.

YESHIVA GEDOLAH
The Yeshiva Gedolah
fund-raiser attracted so
many unexpected people
that organizers were
scrambling to get more
chairs. Nearly 200 attended
the recent event at the
Southfield Sheraton, raising
more than $100,000.
The first scholastic award
in memory of advertising
executive Brod Doner went
to Randy Friedman , Mr.
Doner's step-son.
Spotted in the crowd were:
Robert Orley, Joe Orley,
Sheldon Cohn, Dean and
Aviva Friedman, Rolla
Doner, Scott and Lauren
Seligman, David and
