s•• ■ •01 NEWS Hard Times In Germany Bonn (JTA) - Soviet Jew- ish immigrants coming to Germany are encountering enormous difficulties, accor- ding to a report in the Judische Allegemeine, the German Jewish commun- ity's newspaper. The newspaper said the emigres from the Soviet Union have been denied the status of newcomers eligible for state help and that in some cases, basic needs have been withheld. The German authorities also were accused of trying to play the Jews off against other asylum-seekers. According to the paper, some 2,500 Soviet Jews have arrived in what was former- ly East Germany since last summer. About 800 of them live in eastern Berlin, and the others are spread out around the country or have gone to the western part of the country. The East Berlin municipality, which existed as a separate entity until last week's general elec- tions, decided last week to extend a former East Ger- man ordinance which pro- vided unlimited asylum. The arrangement will last only until the end of the month in the now-united city. MOVIES MAKE GREAT GIFTS!! Peter Pan & All Dogs Go To Heaven Reg. Cause Gains In Netherlands Amsterdam (JTA) - The Palestinian cause appears to be gaining ground in the Netherlands and Cyprus. Dutch Foreign Minister Hans van den Broek, who is anxious to gain the release of the last 28 Dutch hostages held in Baghdad, has hinted he would drop his previously firm refusal to link a solu- tion of the Persian Gulf crisis with the Palestinian problem. In a surprise statement, he said the Netherlands would be prepared to follow up a resolution to the Persian Gulf crisis with active coop- eration to solve other Middle East problems on the basis of relevant resolutions passed by the United Nations. Meanwhile, Cyprus, the island nation some 100 miles off the Israeli coast, has declared its solidarity with the Palestinian cause. President George Vassiliou demanded that Israel withdraw uncondi- tionally from all Palestinian and other Arab territories it acquired in the Six-Day War in 1967. t. w ) e tyt O'Oeautfry O&Weill?/ gta de/vie& fezio-fi, gze. gzfiest We Have a Fantastic Selection of Bedding & Bathroom Accessories All At Discount Savings MARTEX LUXOR PIMA FIELDCREST ROYAL VELVET 100% COTTON LOOPED TERRY TOWELS 100% COTTON LOOPED TERRY TOWELS BATH HAND WASH FINGER TIP BATH SHEET BATH MAT ✓ 64, cfii2 cc- 00-4, Caere • to% ql1• (Jathi$i• fi g2e4c/e-y: %Ackese* .24160 !boat/ (' to • 63e/Y •aMs --6)-aikae • SciPu L, 1.7;X (946) -49.20 (946) -1323 Save $4.00 Save $3.00 Save $2.00 • Nol valid willi any oilier offer • I coupon per visa • 2 lir. minimum • Good for 2 1/2 yrs. or older • Exp 12121190 ASK ABOUT OUR ALL NIGHT NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY 32875 Northwestern (S. of 14 Mile) Farmington Hills • 737.5437 3610 W.
