Colts' Owner
Makes Apology

Indianapolis (JTA) —
Robert Irsay, owner of the
Indianapolis Colts football
team, publicly apologized
last week for referring to
television reporter Fred
Edelstein as a "little Jewish
boy."
Edelstein, an analyst for
the all-sports cable televi-
sion network ESPN, had re-
ported that Colt coach Ron
Meyer was being replaced at
the end of the season by ex-
University of Illinois coach
Mike White.
When asked to comment
on the validity of the report,
Irsay, in the midst of his
post-game celebration, said,
"Edelstein's a little Jewish
boy and he doesn't know
what he's talking about."
In a prepared statement,
Irsay contended that "the
Colts' 1990 season has been
filled with erroneous and
unsubstantiated reports
regarding our coaching staff.
"In the frustrating midst
of this unfounded specula-
tion," he continued, "I
regret my response to one of
these reports, and I sincerely
apologize to Mr. Fred Edels-
tein and to all offended par-
ties for my inappropriate
statement."

B'rith Bowling Association's
1990 Ben Bider Memorial
Tournament of Champions by

Pisgah team members were
Bryan Levine, Bruce Weber-
man, Jeff Eisenberg and
Barry Fishman.
Renaissance team members
were Arnie Millman, Mel
Seigal, Jeff Olstein and Jerry
Kahn.
Third place went to another
team from Renaissance: War-
ren Zweigel, Al Rohan,
Cullen Lieberman and
Harold Marzon.
Larry Schlussel, tourna-
ment chairman, said that 11
teams from the nine B'nai
B'rith leagues competed in
the Nov. 11 tourney at West
Bloomfield Lanes.

B'nai B'rith Men
Set Cage Meeting

The organizational meeting
for the 16th consecutive
season of the Metro Detroit
B'nai B'rith Men's Basketball
League will be 6:30 p.m. Dec.
11 at the B'nai B'rith Coun-
cil office in Southfield.
Those interested in either
registering a team or signing
to play on one are urged to at-
tend, said Marty Melton,
Council athletics chairman.
He expects the league to grow
by five teams this year to a
total of 25.
Rules changes for the 1991
season, which begins in
January, permit three-point
field goals and dunking,
Melton said.
Games are played on Sun-
day mornings in the Oakland
Community College gym-
nasium in Farmington Hills.
For information about the
Dec. 11 meeting or the league,
call Melton at 553-3428.
