violence are his particular
concerns.
The meeting is being
organized by Section Chair-
man Lynn Sachse, and Gayle
Alpert, Rona Fidler, Caren
Landau Levine and Jill Mehr,
associate chairmen.
Bill and Florine Mark-Ross
will host a cocktail gathering
for the Young Adult Division

ments, will give an overseas

Perlman and Nathan Upfal.

munal Services section will

who will speak at the gather-
ing, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5.
Executive vice president of
Federation, Mr. Aronson will
discuss the direction of
Federation and local agencies
as the year 2000 approaches.

vices and helping professions

tion, Neighborhood Project
families and synagogue
members will call Detroiters
asking for pledges to the an-
nual Campaign. Calls are
made from the United
Hebrew Schools building in
Southfield.
Every person will be en-
couraged to increase his or
her gift because of the urgen-
cy of this year's Campaign,
said Super Sunday Chairmen
Sharon Hart and Ronald H.
Riback.
Locally, inflation, govern-
ment cutbacks and agency
belt-tightening may result in
reduced programming and
staffs, causing longer waiting
lists and unmet needs among
those most at risk: the aged,
the poor and families in
distress.
As Israel's defense needs in-
crease, Israel will need more
help from world Jewry to
share the load for absorbing
thousands of new im-
migrants, providing services
to youth and the aged.
Campaign funds channeled
through the Joint Distribu-
tion Commitee provide elder-
ly Jews in Eastern Europe
with warm clothing, while
Ethiopian Jews awaiting per-
mission to leave for Israel
receive food, medical care,
transportation and absorp-
tion assistance.
