The piece is a tribute to Ms.
Sperka's father, David
Mirsky.

"Blending Traditions," an
art show/sale of contemporary
southern art and traditional
classic Indian art of the
Southwest will be held Nov.
30-Dec. 2 at Designer In-
stallation Services in Troy.
A portion of proceeds will be
donated to Wellness Network,
Inc., Michigan's central
resource for AIDS victims and
their families.
The show will feature works
by self-taught artists of the
South and Southwest.
Southern artists' works in-
clude elaborate, brightly
painted walking sticks; por-
traiture; baroque and
biblically inspired paintings;
abstracts of people, animals
and landscapes; mountain
and jungle animals; wood
figure carvings; Appalachian
mountain animals; tradi-
tional southern pottery and
baskets.
The opening Nov. 30 is from
6-9 p.m.; Dec. 1 from 10 a.m.-5
p.m.; Dec. 2 from noon to 5
p.m. The showroom is at 1801
Thunderbird, north of Maple
Road, between Crooks and
Livernois roads. Admission is
free.
Club Holds Show
The Arts and Humanities
Club of Oakland Community
College's Royal Oak Campus
will open its annual fall art
show and sale with a recep-
tion 7-10 p.m. Nov. 30. Food,
refreshments and live music
will be featured.
The juried exhibits, compos-
ed of works in all media by
OCC students and alumni,
will be on display until Dec.
21 in the second floor exhibit
gallery next to the Jones-
Johnson Theater. Free park-
ing is available in the campus
parking structure located
across the street at
Washington and Lincoln.
Hours for the balance of the
show's opening weekend are
10 a.m.-10 p.m. Dec. 1, and
noon-7 p.m. Dec. 2.

Rich Fisher, of TV-2, will
speak Dec. 2 when the Men's
Club of Adat Shalom
Synagogue will honor past
presidents. The morning will
begin with services at 9:30
a.m., followed by brunch and
the program.
Mr. Fisher anchors the 6
and 11 p.m. TV-2 Eyewitness
News. He has recieved a na-
tional award from the
American Bar Association
and a statewide commenda-
tion from the Michigan Bar
Association for a series on
Michigan's jury system.
The group will pay special
tribute to past president Carl
Lichtenstein in memory of his
special contributions to the
ideals and activities of Men's
Club programming.
In addition to Mr. Lichtens-
tein, past Men's Club
presidents are: David Aaron,
John A. Allen, Julius Allen,
Louis Beresh, Samuel Bez,
Albert Farber, Emanuel
Feinberg, Paul Goldsmith,
Sanford Gordon.
