STAFF REPORT
T
alks will continue on a
possible merger bet-
ween Congregation
Beth Achim and Congrega-
tion B'nai David following a
vote of the Beth Achim
membership two weeks ago.
But Beth Achim's president
is skeptical that the talks
will lead to a merger of the
two Southfield congrega-
tions.
Abe Gamer said the Beth
Achim membership "voted
overwhelmingly not to leave
the area." B'nai David
members have purchased a
parcel in West Bloomfield
and the B'nai David
building in Southfield has
been sold to the city.
Mr. Gamer said B'nai
David will consider the Beth
Achim vote at B'nai David's
semi-annual meeting next
month. He said more than
200 members attended Beth
Achim's meeting. The
resolution to continue talks
was passed by a 3-1 margin,
he said, but resolutions on
moving from Southfield
were soundly defeated.
Alex Blumenberg, presi-
dent of B'nai David, could
not be reached for com-
ment.
