Youth Awards

The League of Jewish
Women's Organizations has
applications available for its
45th annual Youth Awards for
high school seniors.
To qualify for the annual
award of $500, the applicant
must be a high school senior
with at least a 3.0 grade point
average, have a formal Jewish
education, be actively involv-
ed in the community and sub-
mit a one-page typed essay on
the subject: "A Jewish Role
Model To Emulate: Histori-
cal, Literary Or Political."
Once qualified, an applicant
will be interviewed by a panel
of judges.
The application and essay
must be received no later
than Jan. 6. For information,

The teens will tour the
Jewish and general
highlights of the city, visiting
the Jewish Theological
Seminary, several syna-
gogues, Ellis Island and the
Statue of Liberty, along with
a Broadway show, shopping,
and touring Manhattan's Up-
per West Side. Rabbi Elliot
Pachter and youth director
Miriam Starkman will ac-
company the students.

program for teens, grades 7
and 8, called Teen
Connection.
The B.B.Y.0./JCC Teen Con-
nection will have a Chanukah
celebration 8-11 p.m. Dec. 15.
at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center. A shuttle
bus from the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building will leave at
7:30 p.m. and return at 11:30
p.m. Reservations must be
made for this service.
