A DIFFERENT

A THREE-DAY EXHIBITION
and sale of the works of Israeli sculptor
Aharon Bezalel made a public Detroit
appearance at the end of October. Hosted by
the Agency for Jewish Education and Gallery
Yakir, the show brought together 30 Bezalel
pieces, and the artist.
Mr. Bezalel, born in Afghanistan and
raised in Israel, works in bronze, brass,
aluminum and wood. According to Joanna
Abramson of Gallery Yakir, Mr. Bezalel
studies human relationships. "The family is
one of his central themes," she says, as well
as the continuity and cyclical nature of life.
Biblical references, Adam and Eve, the
creation of the world and the exodus from
Egypt are often seen in Bezalel's work.
