1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Imagine a supportive learning environment that prepares leaders of tomorrow through
a dynamic program of academics, athletics, arts and activities.

Laurel Herm last year's co-
chair, said the bagels are
delivered fresh at 6 a.m. Sun-
day morning.
"Lots of people buy lox
boxes as gifts. It becomes a
real community event," said
Ms. Simon. "Lox Box really
catches on. When we first
started, people asked us if we
were going to be doing it

every week."
This year, 36 lox boxes were
delivered to University of
Michigan student dor-
mitories. "I haven't had
bagels and lox in a long time,"
said U-M freshman Noah
Siegel, who picked up a lox
box from the synagogue. "It's
not the kind of food they serve
at school." CI

Wayne State Board
Honors Samuel Levin

A recommendation to name
room 2347 in Wayne State
University's Faculty/Ad-
ministration Building the
Samuel M. Levin Conference
Room was approved by WSU's
Board of Governors.
Samuel Levin was in the
charter group appointed by
Dean David Mackenzie to the
faculty of the Detroit Junior
College in 1917. Mr. Levin
continued serving through
the establishment of the Col-
lege of the City of Detroit
(1923), Wayne University
(1934), and eventually Wayne
State University (1956).
Under his leadership as the
first chairman of the depart-
ment of social sciences,

separate departments of
government, history, business
administration and eco-
nomics were established. Mr.
Levin also chaired the
department of economics for
many decades, longer than
any other chairman.
He retired as professor
emeritus in 1959, when he
was 70, after more than 40
years of service to the institu-
tion. Mr. Levin continued to
publish and teach locally and
abroad until his death at 87.
WSU established the
Samuel M. Levin Economics
Award Fund to support an
award conferred annually
upon a student for distinction
in economic studies.
