The Twelfth Annual Alicia Joy Techner Memorial
Parenting Conference is proud to present:

Dr. Benjamin Spock

Members of the Brother-
hood and the Young People's
Society will distribute the
holiday gift to nearly 150
families who have arrived in
Detroit since last Thanksgiv-
ing. They will also serve
bagels and coffee to the reci-
pients. The Brotherhood has
worked in cooperation with
Jewish Resettlement Service,
who provided the names of
the families for this second
annual distribution day.
Nineteen area churches
and synagogues will join in
an Interfaith Thanksgiving
Service 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at
St. Hugo's in Bloomfield
Hills. Rabbi Daniel Polish of
Temple Beth El has been ask-
ed to deliver the sermon. Also
joining in the service will be
the choirs of participating
congregations.
This will be the 16th
Thanksgiving service since
area clergy formed the North-
west Suburban Interfaith
Ministerial Association in the
mid-1970s. Those attending
the service are encouraged to
share Thanksgiving with the
less fortunate by bringing
canned goods which will be
donated to the Oakland
County Food Bank.

At a Free Conference For Parents

Stresses Affecting Families and
Children in the 90's

7:30 p.m. to
9:30 p.m.

Some people say that the American family is on its deathbed-
with the shortage of good day care, drugs, drastic increase in
teen pregnancy, divorce, child abuse, wife abuse, rape, teen
suicide, fear of nuclear annihilation, spread of poverty and
homelessness, and the lack of universal health care.

The foremost authority on
child rearing and a legend
for the past half century.
His "Baby and Child Care", .
first published in 1945, has
had 5 editions, 4 revisions, has
sold over 34 million copies
and been translated into
31 languages.

Still Dr. Spock doesn't think that. He says that it is within our
power to make a difference. Attend the conference to be
empowered to be a better parent.

This conference has been made possible by the many
generous contributions from the friends and family of
David and Ilene Techner in memory of their beloved
daughter, Alicia to Temple Israel's Alicia Joy Techner
Memorial Fund. It represents their deep commitment to
the value of parenting and their concern for improved
family life.
