A man who exudes what
one critic has called the per-
sonality of "the funniest
friend you ever had," he in-
sists the most fun he has all
day is spending time with his
wife and children.
"I don't mean this to sound
as if I'm kissing up or press-
feeding in any way," he says,
"but I do enjoy being with my
family. Oh, I love doing my
shows, making films and do-
ing standup. I'm a hired hand
and when I work I believe in
giving one-hundred percent of
myself to the job. I'm a
gregarious person much like
my dad, and when I work, I
work very hard. In fact, I
guess you could call me a
workaholic.
"But when I have free
time," he says, "which hasn't
been much lately, I love to
just hang out at home. Get-
ting on the floor and right in-
to my kids' faces is the most
fun I can have. Right now,
because we've just moved,
we're trying to buy some new
furniture. And, of course,
we're saving up for two bat
mitzvahs. So I guess I'll have
to be working for a long, long
time to come." ❑
Anita Greene
At 'On Stage'
Singer Anita Greene is
standing in for Sheri Nichols
on Wednesday evenings
through Nov. 14 at the On
Stage restaurant at Adams
and Woodward in Detroit.
Ms. Greene is best known
in the Detroit area as the
voice for many of radio per-
sonality Dick Purtan's joke
tunes during the late 1970s
and early 1980s, including
"Doughnuts Make My
Brown Eyes Blue" and a
takeoff on the Detroit Lions.
In. recent years she has
perfomed professionally in
Texas and Florida. Her On
Stage performances, three
each Wednesday beginning
at 7 p.m., include Broadway
show tunes, old standards,
rock and Motown.
