The Answer to Anti-Semitism at MSU:

Larry Owen in Action

Over the past few years, we have all
seen a rising tide of anti-semitism. And
our college campuses have not been
immune from this trend.

MSU administrators must have
known of Farrakhan's long record of
anti-semitism. Yet they bowed to pres-
sure and agreed to provide him Univer-
sity funding.

Owen's leadership halted the blank-
check-for-bigotry scheme. And opened
our eyes to the importance of clear-
thinking '11-ustees.

Board Chair Larry Owen. He saw the
Farrakhan incident for what it was — the
payment of public funds to an unrepent-
ant bigot. And a dangerous precedent
which would allow any racist, any anti-
semite, or any Klansman a claim to
speak at MSU with payment
by MSU.

We must make sure that it is a university
where our sons and daughters are safe. A
place where they're treated with respect.

Your vote on Iliesday, Nov. 6, can help
make Michigan State that kind of place.
The lesson we've learned is that we must
always be vigilant. And that we need
Larry Owen as MSU Trustee.

MSU holds a special distinction among
all Michigan colleges. More of our state's
students attend MSU than any other.
And more of them stay in Michigan after
college.

counter the lies and hatred Farrakhan
spreads.

Last February we learned a valuable
lesson about this danger at Michigan
State University — a lesson about both
anti-semitism and responsible leader-
ship. And a lesson about the importance
of strong llustees to guide MSU.

The test came when word leaked of
MSU administration plans to bring
Louis Farrakhan to speak at MSU —
at a cost of $5,000 in public funds.
Farrakhan, of course, is the Black Mus-
lim minister who has called Adolph
Hitler "a great man" and Judaism "a
dirty religion!'
