The Chamber Music Socie-
ty of Detroit will present its
second concert of the season
8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Orchestra
Hall. Featured will be a
chamber ensemble, the Muir
String Quartet, with pianist,
Joseph Kalichstein.
Peter Zazofsky, violinist,
Bayla Keyes, violinist, Steven
Ansell, violist, and Michael
Reynolds, cellist make up the
Muir String Quartet. The
members met while studying
at the Curtis Institute of
Music in Philadelphia. The
Quartet was awarded its se-
cond Grand Prix du Disque
for Chamber Music, along
with Gramophone magazine's
1987 "Chamber Music Record
of the Year."
Joseph Kalichstein is a
regular guest soloist with or-
chestras, in addition to his ap-
pearance in the world's major
musical centers as a recitalist
and chamber musician. Born
in Tel Aviv, he attended New
York's Julliard School and
was launched into a brilliant
international career by winn-
ing first prize in the Leven-
tritt International Piano
Competition. He is a member
of the Kalichstein-Laredo-
Robinson Trio.
