Pittsburgh

A single room is a single room. Even
when two people sleep in it. And Florida
hotels are full of them. But suites are all we
have: 244 of them. And for about the price
you'd pay for a room alone in a Florida hotel
(deluxe rooms in season go for $195 to $270
a day), you can get an absolutely luxurious
2-room suite...with free breakfast every
morning...and 2 hours of free cocktails
every afternoon—in one of the most glam-
orous hotels ever built on the Gold Coast.
The oceanfront Embassy Suites ® Hotel of
Deerfield Beach.
REAL SUITES.
Each suite has a separate living room
with dining area, table, chairs, desk,
refrigerator, wet bar, microwave, sofabed,
armchair, color TV, telephone and bathroom.
Plus a separate bedroom with 2 double beds
(or a King), armoire, marble lavatory, another
color TV and phone. And another bathroom.
A far cry from the typical Florida hotel room.
TWO UNCONSCIONABLE
GIVEAWAYS.
Unlike the rest of the hotel industry, we
give every guest a complete, hot, cooked-to-
order breakfast every morning—totally free. •
Plus two hours of free cocktails for every
adult guest, every afternoon. With no check.
No charge. And no tipping. We don't allow it.
IN A LAND OF PLENTY
Our beach—Deerfield—is conveniently
near Florida's famous high-rent districts, yet
mercifully free from their economic orbit.
Along Murray Avenue and
the streets around it are a
yeshiva, two Jewish day
schools, kosher butchers,
Jewish groceries like Kosher-
mart, and specialty stores
like Pinsker's, which sells a
variety of Judaica items.
And besides large
synagogues like Tree of Life,
with over 1,000 families,
there are neighborhood shuls
on the side streets.
"Squirrel Hill is a
stronghold as a Jewish com-
munity," says Roberta Lando,
born and raised on Squirrel
Hill. "We're one of the few
Jewish communities in the
Northeast with a real ethnic
flavor.
"And this is a neighborhood
with multi-generation Jewish
families still living together,"
says Ms. Lando, who's from a
four-generation Pittsburgh
family.
At the corner of Forbes and
Murray is the building that's
the social and cultural center
for Pittsburgh's Jews. The
We're only 5 miles from the barony of
Boca Raton. Only 31 from the principality
of Palm Beach. And 9 from highfalutin'
Ft. Lauderdale.
Within access of it all, but in our own
lovely, sequestered kingdom by the sea.
This winter, don't settle for a room.
Demand a suite. With us.

One side of the building is
made of red brick — "because
this is a very red-brick com-

side is beige brick, represen-

Inside is a large atrium. An
art gallery right in the lobby

center's two swimming pools
are visible.

There's also a theater,
where Jewish productions are
presented four times a year;
the Y Music Society recital
series are also held here.
"It's a very active center,"
says Ms. Lando, "and we're
already looking into even
more expansion." ❑

After passing through
Thomson's Falls, the safari's
next leg is Lake Nakuru,
famous for the array of exotic
waterfowl inhabiting its
banks. Travelers will spend
the night at Lion Hill Lodge,
which affords a view of the
lake.
Adventurers will then enter
the Masai Mara Game
Reserve, inhabited by huge
herds of migrating
wildebeest. With the safari's
two-night stay at Keekorok
Lodge, travelers have the
rare opportunity to observe
gazelles, lions, cheetahs and
even vultures during their ex-
ploration of the game reserve
and the Serengeti National
Park. The reserve and park
represent the largest concen-
tration of wildlife worldwide.
Leaving the game reserve,
the tour will drive into the
Great Rift Valley towards the
beautiful fresh water lake,
Lake Naivasha, where hippos
play. Travelers are free on
the last day in Nairobi to visit
the Snake Park, Nairobi
Museum or shop.
El Al's "Safari Tour"
features more than just
wildlife. The seven-night tour
package includes roundtrip
airfare from Tel Aviv to
Nairobi; all meals and hotel
accommodations, with the ex-
ception of the Nairobi Hilton,
which includes hotel stay
breakfast only; touring by
minibus with professional
licensed English speaking
guide; entrance fees to game
reserves; and arrival and
departure transfers in
Nairobi. Per person, double
occupancy price starts at
$1399. Single supplements
are also available.
Beginning this Nov. 12, un-
til March 15, 1991, El Al of-

Aviv for as low as $739 round-

service is also available from
Chicago, $814 (taxes not in-
cluded). Super Apex fares are
