for Jewish-Christian Studies
will host Yitzhak Yaacobi

Congregational Church,

During his illustrated slide
presentation, "The Old
Becomes New in Jerusalem,"
Mr. Yaacobi will talk about
the archeological restoration
of sites in the Old City which
have been discovered in the
last several years.
Mr. Yaacobi, a survivor of
Auschwitz, is one of Israel's
leading authorities on
Jerusalem. His background
gives his audience — Jew and
Christian alike — an insight
into this city so important in
both traditions.

City-Wide Program
For High School

In an attempt to bring
together those enrolled in
Jewish high school programs
throughout the city, the
Agency for Jewish Education,
Jewish Community Council,
Jewish Educators Council
and Temple Beth El will pre-
sent a Nov. 5 program at 6
p.m. at Temple Beth El.
Dr. Jay Rothman of the
Leonard David Institute for
International Relations,
Hebrew University in
Jerusalem will speak on
"Moving Away From . . . A
Dialogue of the Deaf Toward
Conflict Resolution of the
Middle East."
Future programs designed
to be an impetus toward uni-
ty include a city-wide session
for seventh graders and an ex-
ploration of the Holocaust.

Mayor Seeks
Beggar Licenses

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Tel Aviv
Mayor Shlomo Lahat has
proposed that the City
Council issue licenses to
beggars.
The new bylaw, which the
council is to debate next
month, would enable the
municipality to prevent
anyone it considers a "public
nuisance" from collecting
money from the public. The
council would also retain the
right to designate where
each beggar can work.
Most beggars in Tel Aviv
gather around the central
bus station, the Great Syn-
agogue on Allenby Road and
Tel Aviv cemeteries.
