And our college campuses have not been immune from this trend. counter the lies and hatred Farrakhan spreads. Owen's leadership halted the blank- check-for-bigotry scheme. Last February we learned a valuable lesson about this danger at Michigan State University — a lesson about both anti-semitism and responsible leader- ship. And a lesson about the importance of strong Trustees to guide MSU. The test came when word leaked of MSU administration plans to bring Louis Farrakhan to speak at MSU — at a cost of $5,000 in public funds. Farrakhan, of course, is the Black Mus- lim minister who has called Adolph Hitler "a great man" and Judaism "a dirty religion!' MSU administrators must have known of Farrakhan's long record of anti-semitism.
